TCML–New York Taiwan Center wrapped up the Spring 2026 semester with a joyful End-of-Semester Celebration, bringing together students, teachers, and community members to reflect on a meaningful season of language learning and cultural connection.
Throughout the semester, students not only strengthened their Mandarin communication skills, but also explored Taiwanese culture through conversation practice, cultural discussions, and interactive activities. The celebration offered a wonderful opportunity for everyone to recognize their progress while enjoying Taiwanese food, games, awards, and plenty of laughter together.
One of the highlights of the event was the Taiwanese Slang Trivia Game, where students learned fun and commonly used expressions such as “真的假的” (Really?), “CP值” (cost-performance value), “豬隊友” (bad teammate), and “傻眼” (speechless). Through this playful activity, students experienced modern Taiwanese language and internet culture in a relaxed and engaging environment.
Students also shared personal milestones from their Mandarin learning journey. Some are preparing to continue their studies in Taiwan, others have started using Mandarin in the workplace, and many expressed greater confidence communicating with friends and family in Chinese. These stories reflected the supportive and encouraging learning community built at TCML.
During the event, TCML also introduced upcoming Summer 2026 programs, including seasonal Mandarin courses and the “Taiwan Vibes Summer Series,” a collection of hands-on Taiwanese cultural workshops featuring food, crafts, and cultural experiences.
In addition, the TCML community took time to express heartfelt appreciation and say farewell to Teacher Pin-Han Chen for her dedication and contributions to the program. Students and staff shared their gratitude for her warmth, support, and commitment to helping students grow in their Mandarin learning journey over the years.
Thank you to all of our students, teachers, and supporters for making this semester such a memorable and meaningful one. We look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and celebrate Taiwanese culture together in the future.
