Fall 2026: Beginner Mandarin 101
Build a strong foundation in Mandarin Chinese through a structured, curriculum-based course. Students will learn Pinyin, pronunciation, essential sentence patterns, everyday vocabulary, and begin reading and writing in Traditional Chinese characters. Lessons emphasize practical communication skills for daily life while building confidence step by step.
Who Should Join: Students who have never taken a formal Mandarin class or have only minimal exposure to Mandarin.

Continue developing your Mandarin skills by expanding vocabulary, strengthening sentence structures, and improving speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students will participate in practical conversations and gain confidence communicating in everyday situations.
Who Should Join: Students who have completed Beginner Mandarin 101/102 or can comfortably read Pinyin, introduce themselves, and communicate using basic everyday expressions.
Approximate TOCFL: Novice High / CEFR A1

Fall 2026: Introductory Mandarin 201
Strengthen your ability to communicate confidently in a variety of real-life situations. This course expands vocabulary, improves grammatical accuracy, and develops greater fluency through discussions, reading passages, and paragraph-level writing.
Who Should Join: Students who have completed Introductory Mandarin 201/202 and can participate in simple everyday conversations, read short passages, and write basic paragraphs in Chinese.
Approximate TOCFL: Intermediate Mid / CEFR A2

Take your Mandarin to the next level through more advanced discussions, readings, and writing activities. Students will strengthen their ability to express opinions, compare ideas, and explore Taiwanese culture using authentic language materials.
Who Should Join: Students who have completed Intermediate Mandarin 301/302 and can discuss familiar topics, express opinions, and understand longer reading passages in Mandarin.
Approximate TOCFL: Advanced Low / CEFR B1

Fall 2026: Upper Intermediate Mandarin 401
Designed for advanced learners who want to refine their fluency and communicate naturally in Mandarin. Students will engage in meaningful discussions on contemporary topics, Taiwanese culture, and authentic reading materials while expanding vocabulary and strengthening writing skills.
🗣️ This class is conducted primarily in Mandarin to provide an immersive learning environment.
Who Should Join: Students who have completed Upper Intermediate Mandarin 401/402 and are comfortable participating in discussions conducted primarily in Mandarin. Learners should be able to read authentic texts, express opinions on a variety of topics, and write well-organized paragraphs.
Approximate TOCFL: Advanced Mid–High / CEFR B1–B2
